  9. USING DEMO
  10.  
  11.    1) Copy program to your hard drive; preferably to the sys:tools directory.
  12.    2) Execute the program either from SHELL or from WorkBench using the icon.
  13.    3) Set up the backup configuration (see menus).  Save your configuration.
  14.       You should set up the Program Configuration also.  The log file, index
  15.       file(s), and File Exclusion Filter all default to the sys:s directory.
  16.    4) Most of program functions should be self explanatory.  There are no
  17.       docs included.
  18.    5) You will be able to perform backups to floppies, removable hard drives,
  19.       and/or hard drive partitions.  
  20.       
  21.       NOTE:  Applied Engineering's driver for the High Density Floppy drive
  22.              currently does not work under Kickstart version 36.314.  AE is
  23.              working to correct this problem.

  25.    6) Removable hard drive media, fixed hard drive partition(s), and mountable
  26.       SCSI tape media (used as a destination devicce) MUST be formatted prior
  27.       to performing backups.  This is not the case with floppies.
  28.

  53. GENERAL INFORMATION
  54.  
  55.     Ami-Back is a state-of-the-art hard disk drive backup utility for the
  56. Commodore Amiga line of personal computers.  Ami-Back is the fastest backup
  57. utility available for the Amiga, and it makes the job of backing up hard drive
  58. data easy to do!

  60.  1) Backs up any AmigaDOS compatible device such as:

  62.         Floppies (conventional or high density)
  63.         Removable media hard drive(s)
  64.         Fixed media hard drive
  65.         SCSI Tape drive

  111.     backup media and compares it with source data to ensure integrity

  123.     backup or to a single user-specified directory.

  139. Scheduler: (Ami-Sched not include with DEMO, but still can be configured)

  141.  1) Versatile scheduler similar to the UNIX cron program, but with a
  142.     sophisticated, easy-to-use graphical interface.

  144.  2) Allows unattended backups based on user-defined intervals.
  145.  
  146.  3) Most useful for users with SCSI tape drives or removable media.

  148.  4) Configured within the main backup program.
  149.  
  150.  5) "Multi-tasking friendly." Requires little system overhead.

  152. SPECIAL FEATURES
  153.  
  154.  1) Compare - Located on the restore configuration screen, this
  155.     feature allows the user to generate a comparison between backed-up
  156.     data and the data currently on the target device.  Compare may
  157.     be used in the event of suspected file corruption or lost data.

  159.  2) Log file - Logs all tasks performed by scheduler and errors
  160.     detected during background backup operations.
  161.  
  162.  3) Back-Tracking - During backup, if defective destination media is
  163.     detected, the program will allow the user to replace the
  164.     defective media and resume the backup.

  166.  4) Runs in background.  Can be started without the scheduler from
  167.     Shell.
  168.  
  169.     NOTE:  When running from Shell, you may change the source device
  170.            for backup without modifying your backup configuration.
